How many kW can a 30A PDU deliver?

At 80% continuous loading and power factor 1: about 2.9 kW at 120V single-phase, 5.0 kW at 208V single-phase, 8.6 kW at 208V three-phase, or 17.3 kW at 415V three-phase. Verify the exact PDU and circuit ratings.

Do I need three-phase?

Compare your design load with the circuits available at your facility. Balanced three-phase delivers about 1.73 times the apparent power of single-phase at the same line-to-line voltage and current.

Should each PDU in an A/B pair carry half the rack?

Size each surviving path for the full design load. Normal load sharing does not remove the need to support the load when the other feed fails.

What is the difference between metered and monitored?

In this guide, metered means local readings; monitored adds remote visibility. Vendor names vary, so confirm the capabilities of the exact product.

Do I need C19 outlets?

Check the equipment connections and required current. C19 outlets accept C20 plugs and are commonly used for higher-current equipment; ratings depend on the listed product and region.

Can a PDU monitor temperature and humidity?

Many networked PDUs support environmental sensors. Confirm sensor compatibility, supported measurements and whether sensors are sold separately.
